Lenore Browne is a native New Yorker and long time resident of Harlem. She uses the camera to capture and create beautiful, romantic, and majestic images in urban and natural environments that often remain unnoticed in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Landscapes, nature, floral and urban images are her portraits of our environmental surroundings. Lenore’s passion also lies with the images she prints in a traditional wet darkroom. Her black and white collection called “Portrait of Harlem” and “Harlem Stroll” serves to present and preserve the image history of Harlem at the cusp of its transition from its prior declined and neglected state. She believes, in this transitional time coined the “second renaissance”, it is urgent to record Harlem’s traditional essence before it is lost forever.
